Relocating and situating the building, the Drop of Water Memorial was eventually settled in Tamsui and on March 29, 2011. Its long-closed doors were finally opened to present its authentic character to the world.

The moving of ancient homes to Taiwan began with a friendship between Japan and Taiwan that sprang from the devastation of earthquakes.

Although the process of moving the building was not as smooth as expected, after a year of hard work and united efforts by the Japanese army labor and Taiwanese volunteers to assemble the beam columns, tiles and walls, the ancient Japanese home was finally officially declared rebuilt at an ancient home restoration activity on August 16, 2009.
